Hamilton County Community Corrections Center

Three-story building is a steel structure with precast concrete panels for the exterior shell. The building includes secure areas with heavy construction, medium-security areas, and non-secure office areas. The building has two large custom air handler units on the roof that will house all HVAC equipment.

Challenges

Budget constraints during design and duration limitations. We worked diligently with the A/E firms and the Owner to ensure that the project was completed with in budget. One cost savings was changing all types in the inmate housing areas from Hamilton County Community Corrections Center thumbnail picmasonry to high-impact drywall. Project was a tight schedule to bid out the foundation work before the final design was done in order to get the foundations complete before the winter months.

Relevancy

Worked closely with the designers to get a very efficient HVAC system. Building has an unoccupied 3rd floor for future growth in the county. Two large service elevators for easy access to the upper floors. 3-story building saved much needed surface area for parking. Added secure entrance to the jail complex from the south.
