HOBART HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT
This exciting new High School project received approval from the Indiana
Department of Local Government Finance. The design was done by
Gibraltar Design. Bidding was
completed inside the budget. The Ground Breading Ceremony was a fabulous event
(to the credit of Superintendent Dr. Jack Leach and Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Peggy Buffington). Project construction started in the Spring of 2006
and much excitement is in the air in the School City of Hobart.
ELKHART SCHOOL PROJECTS
Roosevelt Elementary is nearing completion and will be ready for students
in August 2006. This building features one of the largest skylights ever lifted
onto a school. This very sophisticated project was designed by
Fanning/Howey. Superintendent Mr. Mark Mow
and Business Manager Mr. Doug Hasler have represented the school's interests in
this project.
Riverview Elementary is ready to begin construction in the summer of 2006
and will be ready for students in the fall of 2007. Once again, Fanning/Howey
is the designer. This project also bid within the established budget.
SUNMAN DEARBORN PROJECT
East Central High School
is a project in excess of $45,000,000. This project will be completed within
the 20 month time schedule established at the beginning of the project and
will be done on budget. Mr. John Roeder, Superintendent, has been a strong and
positive school leader for the renovation and expansion.
MERRILLVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECTS
Salk Elementary,
Wood Elementary, and
Fieler Elementary are finishing
the renovation and expansion phase of work. All three buildings have been
occupied throughout construction and disruption has been kept to a minimum due
to extensive coordination and cooperation between the building principals and
Envoy's site managers. Dr. Tony Lux and his central office staff had prepared
well for these projects and deserve the credit for a smooth set of projects.
There are no safety, schedule, budget or quality problems on these Merrillville
projects.
SOUTH MONTGOMERY PROJECT
South Montgomery Junior / Senior High School
is completing in the fall of 2006. The Jr. High and Sr. High will share a first
class Auditorium and Field House. These projects were designed by Gibraltar
Design and constructed using multiple primes. Dr. Bret Lewis has supervised
these projects since their inception.
PERU SCHOOLS
The Peru High School and two
elementary schools will finish renovation and expansion for the 2006 school
year. Dr. Thomas McKaig and Mr. Steve Gough have represented the school
corporation from the beginning and ushered these projects through all phases of
the required process. The budget, schedule and high quality requirements have
been accomplished.
MILL CREEK SCHOOLS
The Mill Creek High School, Middle
School and West Elementary Schools are all completing for the 2006 school year.
Dr. Sherida Brower has led these projects from the beginning through the end of
construction. She has accomplished the budget, schedule and quality goals that
her Board established in 2003.
HAMILTON COUNTY INDIANA
The Hamilton County Juvenile
Justice Center is in the final stages and is well ahead of schedule and under
budget. The facility was designed by RQAW,
ACE and
Paul I. Cripe. The Sheriff's Department
will open the building in October 2006 and will welcome occupants in January
2007.
The Hamilton County Animal Shelter will open in the fall of 2006. This
project was designed by Paul I. Cripe and will accommodate both the
Hamilton County Humane Society and
the Spay Neuter Clinic.
The Hamilton County Jail will be expanded and renovated to accommodate the
remarkable growth in Hamilton County. The project will include food services,
medical services, intake services, communication services and video services
for the courts and visitation.
The new Hamilton County Community Corrections Center will commence in the
fall of 2007 and will house 200 residents, as well as day reporting, night
reporting and special classes for those that need services. This program is one
of the most cost effective treatment programs available to the court system.
THE FOUNTAIN COUNTY JAIL
This new Fountain County Jail
project is under remonstrance during July and August 2006.
DANVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
Danville has received state
approval to continue on with a new 5/6 - 7/8 building that will accommodate
1200 students. This project is being designed by
Schmidt Associates and should bid in
December 2006. Special effort has been made to accomplish a budget set by the
Danville School Board that will provide a new concept in Indiana School
Buildings. We think the Dr. John McKinney inspired design will become a standard
and used as an efficiency design by many schools in the future.
